As worldwide demand for broadband is increasing, broadband connectivity
is being incorporated into many types of consumer products such
as set-top boxes and modems as well as televisions and home audio
products, further fueling the demand for broadband access devices.
New Thomson products and services deliver entertainment and broadband
into and throughout homes and businesses while providing Telco operators
with new revenue opportunities.
In a major leap forward for delivering video entertainment over
DSL, Thomson launched the Internet Protocol (IP) 1001. This is the
first IP video set-top box -that incorporates Thomson's advanced
compression video delivery platform. This is Thomson's latest addition
to its existing product line of IP set-top boxes, which are in successful

The technology in the new IP 1001 greatly improves the ability
of telecom operators to deliver high-quality, fully featured video
entertainment over DSL or other IP networks. Thomson collaborated
with Intel to develop the core technology in the new product family
that delivers a wide range of entertainment and data services into
the living room adds the release.
