Wegener which provides satellite transmission solutions for broadcast and cable television networks worldwide has introduced the DTV 720 Digital Multiplexer.

The product is the latest addition to the company's DTV line of digital multiplexers and stream processors. Utilising the DTV 720, cable operators can combine off-air High Definition (HD) programming with other digital programs to create new suites to offer to their customers.

The Advanced Television Standards Committee (ATSC) has created a standard mechanism for descriptions and titling of programming, called PSIP, for use in Programme Guides displayed to the cable customer. The DTV 720 provides complete control over the PSIP data, which is sent digitally with the programming, so that operators can modify the descriptor information before it is presented to their customers.
