Tektronix, a provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation has announced Samsung Electronics has chosen its VM5000 Automated Video Measurement Set for measuring High Definition Television (HDTV) and progressive component video signals.

Through precision measurement and testing, the VM5000 is a key to enabling the design of next generation digital set-top boxes, video semiconductors, integrated HDTV tuner/decoders, progressive scan DVD players and gaming consoles. The VM5000 can be used for design and development, quality/audit test, certification and compliance test, and automated production test applications.

Samsung stated that they were looking for a monitoring solution that would be able to measure waveform of Analog HD component signal. Tektronix's VM5000 is a natural solution as it is easy for all Samsung's technicians to use, and more importantly, it provides the most reliable and stable monitoring capabilities.

Tektronix noted that with fierce competition in the electronics industry, the ability to bring new products to market in a timely fashion is more important than eve. With the automatic measurements of the VM5000, Samsung is able to significantly shorten its development cycle and at the same time eliminate test errors. The VM5000 will deliver the speed, reliability and comprehensive analysis Samsung needs in order to facilitate development of next generation video designs.
