Tektronix has announced the addition of MPEG-2 Terrestrial Integrated
Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB-T) test capabilities to its
MPEG Monitoring and Test Systems. Tektronix's new monitoring and
analysis solutions enable Japanese equipment manufacturers and broadcasters
to develop, deploy, manage and maintain new ISDB-T equipment used
in Digital TV (DTV) infrastructure.
Tektronix provides test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation.
Broadcasters in Japan are deploying terrestrial DTV infrastructure.
ISDB-T, the terrestrial digital DTV standard for the Japanese market,
requires in-depth monitoring and analysis to effectively meet "on-air"
deadlines and maintain high quality service. Equipment manufacturers
and broadcasters who are testing and validating MPEG ISDB-T equipment
need a comprehensive solution that can capture transport streams
remotely at any point in the network and enable in-depth deferred
time analysis.
To meet these requirements, Tektronix MPEG MTM400 Monitoring System
and AD953A
Test Systems now include full support for ISDB-T transport streams.
When used with the MTM400 Transport Stream Monitor, the ISDB-T deferred
time analysis package enables in-depth analysis to be performed
offline.
ISDB-T streams can be captured remotely at any point in the network
for detailed offline analysis, including support for deferred time
in-depth PCR jitter analysis. Tektronix further claims that its
philosophy of providing fault detection information as opposed to
raw data results allows engineers to quickly diagnose and repair
problems in their facilities or network. Usability features in the
new deferred time analysis software include a summary
screen for general stream content and health check, a user interface
focused on ease of navigation, and automated, context sensitive
error log filters.
