Ai-Pixel BV, a leading Holland-based designer and developer of advanced digital video solutions for the Broadcast industry, has finalised a deal with Korean Broadcasting Systems (KBS) to supply a 32 channel 24/7 broadcast logging system, says a company release.

The Ai-Pixel BVL-5900 system comprises eight VRX-8100 MPEG-2 Digital Media Servers, a broadcast video logger control system with full management, automation, search, browse, export, import and edit capability, a native MPEG-2 editing suite workstation, and IP set-top box.

With 24 hours a day terrestrial and satellite broadcasting, KBS required a cost-effective solution to meet the Korean government regulations which oblige the public broadcaster to store three month's output in an easily retrievable form.

The simplicity of the Ai-Pixel solution allows installed units to immediately provide live, or playback, high-quality video streaming to any desktop plugged into the network. All this can be achieved with minimal set-up and administration, allowing for fast implementation, says the release.

Commenting on the installation, KBS director of quality control MS Song said, "The Ai-Pixel BVL-5900 solution replaces our cumbersome video-tape logging system and will save KBS substantial costs in maintenance, staffing and human errors. With the full three months' output stored we now have a complete record of all our broadcasts, in line with government requirements."

The Ai Pixel BVL-5900 system was sold to KBS through it's local dealer Namsung Trading which was given the brief to provide KBS with a cutting-edge 32 channel recording, storage, playback and streaming system. Back up is onto a RAID server and the logged video can be viewed live or played back over the network using streaming over IP.

"The advanced connectivity features and extended storage capabilities of the Ai-Pixel system makes it ideal for this type of demanding broadcast application," says director worldwide sales Shimon Ben Ayoun.

The Ai-Pixel BVL-5900 system includes DVD-quality video, CD-quality audio, four-channel video input, eight-channel video output, an expanding array of unique digital features including superior video quality, advanced connectivity, up-to 1.6 terabyte of internal storage capability and unrivalled system performance, adds the release.
