Front Porch Digital has announced that ATG Broadcast has selected
DIVArchive on behalf of BBC Broadcast to serve as the infrastructure
for their digital video archive at BBC Broadcast's new broadcast
centre in London.
An official release informs that the DIVArchive solution will be
integrated to a server-based infrastructure, automation system and
data tape library. Initially managing 8,000 hours of broadcast content,
it will support multi-channel playout and production systems for
multiple clients. DIVArchive was chosen based on Front Porch's ability
to provide a highly fault tolerant and fully scalable solution at
a cost-effective price. ATG Broadcast was selected as the system
integrator and together with BBC Broadcast evaluated several vendors.
Given the strong requirements for scalability, disaster recovery
and partial restore, it was agreed that DIVArchive was the most
suitable product for this implementation.
Front Porch Digital has stated that the deal demonstrates its leadership
in archive management software. It added that the widespread and
growing deployment of digital archives will require an open, flexible
and distributed infrastructure. The company develops software and
services that convert audio, video, images, text and data into digital
formats that enable searching, browsing, editing, storage and on-demand
delivery of content in nearly any other digital format through a
single capture. Front Porch Digital claims to be the number one
provider of archive management software in Europe and Asia.
