Conax to provide Conditional Access Service to TrendTV in West Africa

A leading supplier of conditional access technology for digital TV- Conax AS has signed a contract with Communication Trends Network Limited (CTNL) to provide Conditional Access services for TrendTV, West Africa. Conax AS is all set to launch 32 channels in March 2004.

CTNL, a successful MMDS operator that provides security technology for DTH platform, covers the English speaking population in West Africa. It will market the satellite TV service, branded TrendTV, through its subsidiary, Communication Trends Limited (CTL) in 14 major Nigerian cities Africa. CTL currently operates a seven-channel 30,000 subscriber wireless cable MMDS network, says a company release.

"Conax is very pleased with the selection of Conax CAS5 and related technology for this project in Africa. This proves once again that Conax’ solutions are successful outside our European home market," says Conax CEO Bent Brugard.

According to CTNL CEO, "CTL has a history of deploying advanced technology and acquiring reliable equipment from the world’s most reputable vendors and industry leaders. We selected Conax following a technical evaluation that focused on the security aspect, the solutions offered for flexible programming, the protection of premium content and payment collection from our subscribers in Africa. The solutions offered by Conax are vital parts of our business model."
