Discreet has announced that post-production facility Shooters Post
& Transfer has purchased a number of additional Discreet systems.
These will be used on its growing portfolio of commercial spots
and high-definition (HD) television programming work.
The Philadelphia-based company has added two of Discreet's fire
6 non-linear editing and finishing systems on SGI) Onyx 350 to its
three existing fire systems. They also chose Discreet's backdraft
background media management software, and obtained an upgrade to
Discreet's flame 8 visual effects and compositing system.
An official release informs that while demand for HD and high-end
post-production work is flourishing it can put a heavy strain on
production in terms of quality and performance. Shooters Post &
Transfer has stated that it needed more of the best systems. So
it chose fire because it remains the fastest and best editing suite
available for HD and standard-definition post work.
Shooters Post & Transfer works on numerous HD projects using Discreet's
fire and flame systems. They include Comcast SportsNet's graphics
package for the Philadelphia and Chicago markets; editing of TLC's
Trading Spaces; Banyan Productions' HD conforms; the main
titles for the CBS drama Hack; HD conforms of commercial
spots and promos airing on Voom, a new HD satellite channel from
Cablevision; and the editing of several independent feature films.
Shpoters Post & transfer added that its clients want to be in a
fire suite for high-end post projects. They demand that fire be
used because it doesn't limit them. Clients feel comfortable with
fire's user-friendly interface that allows for the visualisation
of changes, and its capabilities inspire their creativity. The company
added that there was no doubt that fire significantly boosts the
level of collaboration it can have with clients.
Discreet works with media professionals to realise the visual experience
and transform their most evocative and ambitious visions into reality.
Discreet has stated that its solutions are designed for digital
media creation, management and delivery across all disciplines including
film and television visual effects, colour grading and editing.
