Philips India a subsidiary of the Netherlands based Royal Philips
Electronics is seeking to ride the cricket mania wave through its
Cinema At Home (Cath) product.
An official release informs that the product is a complete entertainment
package combining the experience of video and audio. The product
includes a home entertainment cinemascope projector, a DVD amplifier,
5.1 surround sound speakers, subwoofer and screen. For a live cricket
match Phillips claims that Cath delivers real life stadium image
and sound assuring the viewer that nothing short of the live action
taking place.
Through the Cath Phillips is seeking to deliver a lifestyle product
concept for those with a hectic lifestyle and have limited time
on their hands. The product's main feature is its ability to deliver
the larger than life image picture quality. Unlike conventional
screens the Cath viewers get larger than life (true 16:9) cinema
scope images i.e. more than a 100? diagonal coupled with sound from
state-of-the-art surround sound speakers which are not available
with present televisions. It also features an amplifier system with
600 W RMS Dolby Digital, DTS sound, a 16:9 format screen image that
compares to normal cinema hall viewing. In addition the Cath projector
allows 6000 hours of lamplight - the highest available in the world,
with the lowest sound level for a projector i.e. 27 db, again the
lowest in the world.
