Gearhouse Broadcast has launched a High Definition (HD) fly-away
system. The HD fly-away facility is designed utilising a similar
concept to the companies existing tried and tested SDI modular systems.
The system can be configured to operate in any of the HD formats
and is available for use anywhere across the globe.
An official release informs that the fly-away can be configured
to meet the specific production requirements for use at music concerts,
reality television, light entertainment or global sports events.
Gearhouse Broadcast also have smaller four to six camera systems
for 24P recordings for high-end episodic television or drama.
These systems can either be utilised for multiple ISO or master
HD recordings with simultaneous SD recordings with ‘burnt in’ 24P
TC to assist with off-line shot logging. They will also provide
all the necessary HD monitoring facilities for a Colourist and DOP.
The company will have spent an estimated £2 million on developing
its HD range, which will be used both for its Projects Solutions
department and for individual Equipment Rentals. The fly-away system
incorporates a complement of manufacturers products designed to
be a 'best of breed' range. This is part of an ongoing investment
programme to develop their portfolio and ultimately grow their market
position adds the release.
The system will include
- Thomson LDK 6000 Worldcam camera systems
- EVS HD Hard Disk recorders
- Sony HDW-M2000P or HDW F500 VTR’s
- ProBel HD router -
- A variety of Canon HD Lenses
- Sony BVM-F24U Monitors.
Gearhouse Broadcast has stated that it carried out market research
on a global scale to encompass its UK, American and Australian offices.
The company wanted a robust solution for all clients, taking into
account factors driving their production requirements, their future
needs and identifying further opportunities for its HD technology.
The company has added that this kind of investment is not just
a simple financial decision. It is a cultural change affecting the
way the company will now approach its projects. Engineers, technical
staff and front line account managers will be trained to effectively
support all HD projects.
Gearhouse Broadcast’s rental clients include broadcasters and programme
makers in the industry. The company has said that increasingly requests
are coming through for the HD product. Therefore it makes sense
strategically to invest in the appropriate equipment to provide
top up facilities when requested. It also facilitates a 'try before
you buy' mentality. This enables producers to get comfortable with
the technology, before making a committment to purchase adds the
release.
