Even as the local Indian broadband operators are firming up their
plans to woo consumers, operators in the developed countries have
started operations.
Telewest Broadband has launched a new 2Mbps cable modem service
across its broadband network bundled with its telecom services at
a cost of £50 per month.
A digitalsky report states that 85 per cent of Telewest's 1,500
existing broadband customers, who have been using the service since
March, expressed satisfaction.
Telewest Broadband's director of Internet services Chad Raube was
quoted as saying that the company recognises that people have different
needs and provide a menu of cable services to suit. Raube also claimed
that the company has sought views of customers and used them to
"shape a mind-blowing Internet experience."
Telewest is the UK's first cable operator to launch a 2Mbps cable
modem service for residential use - the operator now has services
in 512Kbps, 1Mbps and 2Mbps flavours.
