With news channels hogging the lime light in the broadcast world, Israel's satellite broadcaster DBS Satellite Services - YES has launched a multi-screen interactive news portal using NDS technology, giving the audience added variety.

According to an official release, the interactive news portal, developed by YES' engineering division in just four days, features eight screens. With video and audio feed and likes of CNN, Fox News, BBC News, Sky News and local channels 1,2, and 10, and Israel+ on the portal, the innovation seems an interesting option.

It answers viewers' needs for a simple way to select news channels and view ongoing updates of news and current affairs, says the release. As for the YES subscribers, they have the ability to choose several audio channels from the portal. A scroll at the bottom of the screen will feature real time text updates of the latest breaking news using banner updates.

Currently, the service will be available free to YES subscribers but after 30 April 2003 they will be charging 1 dollar per month.
