McGraw-Hill Broadcasting Group, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies,
has completed installation of ParkerVision's PVTV NEWS live production
automation systems for live local news production within all four
of its ABC affiliates across the US.
KMGH-TV in Denver has become the world's first implementation
of the top of-the-line PVTV NEWS CR4000 system, designed specifically
for live automated news production in major markets. All four McGraw-Hill
stations, WRTV-TV in Indianapolis; KGTV-TV in San Diego; KMGH-TV
in Denver, and KERO-TV in Bakersfield are online and performing
all of their newscasts with ParkerVision's CR3000 and CR4000 series
systems.
The McGraw-Hill stations took various approaches to implementing
PVTV NEWS. Indianapolis, Bakersfield, and Denver began automating
their live news production during morning and afternoon newscasts
and transitioned to prime-time newscasts, demonstrating the ability
to slowly implement PVTV NEWS, while San Diego took an all-or nothing
approach.
As a major market affiliate, KMGH is reaping the benefits of the
CR Series' advanced software by simplifying the user interface for
single operator control. It provides expanded video, keyer, audio
and control capabilities, providing the first true live production
automation solution for larger markets that thrive in fast-paced
news environments with graphics-intense, complex newscasts.
An official release informs that PVTV NEWS is a scalable, broadcast
quality live video production system that integrates the traditionally
disparate functions of video switching and effects, audio mixing,
server and VTR machine control, camera and teleprompter control
functions into a single operator station. Through ParkerVision's
patented PVTV NEWS System and patents pending Transition Macro technology,
all segments of a live show can be pre-programmed and previewed
prior to a show going on-automated video camera control systems
and air; however, the show can also be quickly and dynamically changed
at anytime up to or while on-air for late breaking news stories.
ParkerVision designs, develops and manufactures communications
technology platforms and products for the wireless and video industries.
The video division is engaged in the design; development and marketing
of automated live production systems for broadcasting, webcasting
and automated video camera control systems states the release.
