Scientific-Atlanta is working with Bermuda CableVision to install
and activate a two-way system that will be able to offer subscribers
a range of new digital services, including an interactive program
guide (IPG), Video on Demand (VOD) and other interactive applications
on the island of Bermuda.
Scientific-Atlanta is providing technology, service and support
to enable the network, which will serve customers across the island.
Bermuda CableVision has been providing cable television services
to the island of Bermuda for more than a decade. The new system
will include Scientific-Atlanta's PowerVu® multiplexers and receivers,
a digital network control system, QAM modulators, QPSK modulators
and Explorer® set-tops. The installation, activation, provisioning
and support are being handled by Scientific-Atlanta's SciCare(tm)
Broadband Services. The system was launched earlier this month.
"Scientific-Atlanta's expertise in building and launching digital
interactive networks is critical to us as we roll out this new interactive
system," said Jeremy Elmas, general manager of Bermuda CableVision.
"The capabilities of this network will allow us to deliver a much
broader choice of television entertainment and programming to our
subscribers while increasing our revenue opportunities."
"We've demonstrated our ability to help operators around the world
launch reliable digital networks quickly and efficiently," said
Tom Nilson, vice president and managing director, Americas region,
Scientific-Atlanta. "We are confident that we will be able to do
the same for Bermuda CableVision as they bring dynamic interactive
services to their subscribers throughout the island."
