Prismiq, which claims to be a leader in networked entertainment
devices and software and SnapStream Media which develops digital
entertainment software have announced a partnership for integration
of SnapStream's Personal Video Station TV recording software with
the Prismiq MediaPlayer networked entertainment gateway system.
This integration will provide consumers with greater PVR (personal
video recorder) functionality and flexibility, with the ability
to watch multiple television shows that were recorded on their PC
hard disk simultaneously on TVs throughout the home.
SnapStream's patent-pending TV recording software resides on the
networked PC and makes TV recordings onto the PC's hard disk. The
Prismiq MediaPlayer sits atop any television, stereo, or entertainment
centre, and via an Ethernet, wireless (WiFi), or other home network
connection, enables users to play PC and Internet media files on
their home entertainment centre, TVs and/or stereos. With this new
partnership, users will also be able to access SnapStream TV recordings
and play them back -- even different pre-recorded shows on different
TVs at the same time -- in a turn-key fashion.
SnapStream software turns the PC into a TV recording device, giving
consumers the ability to digitally record their favorite television
shows onto their PC hard disk in a PVR fashion. SnapStream TV recordings
can then be accessed anytime, anywhere -- over the wireless home
network, over the Internet, on handheld devices, on laptops, and
with devices like the Prismiq MediaPlayer, on televisions anywhere
in the house.
The Prismiq MediaPlayer eliminates the requirement to be physically
present at the PC in order to experience digital movies, MP3 audio,
and digital pictures. It also connects to the Internet through the
home network for relaxed, TV-based web surfing, instant messaging,
personalised TV-displayed news, and easy access to emerging next-generation
broadband services.
