Radyne ComStream has announced that it has completed the installation
of IP services via satellite for Nigerian telecommunications Limited
(NITEL) in the key cities of Abuja and Lagos. Service is provided
to NITEL over the Radyne ComStream IPSat platform and Intelsat's
new Internet Trunking service, one of the company's recently launched
end-to-end GlobalConnex Solutions.
The launch of the service in Nigeria comes immediately after successful
roll-outs in Tanzania and Mozambique and the installation of HUB
facilities for worldwide operations in Fuchsstadt, Germany. Launch
of the NITEL sites brings the total value of IPSat sales for Intelsat
services to over US $2 million.
Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation with more than 110 million
people, will benefit greatly from the service products offered.
Fast, high quality Internet access for e-mail browsing and e-commerce
applications, voice over IP (VOIP), video conferencing for distance
learning and corporate training, multicasting, and streaming are
a few of the services that are available.
An official release informs that Intelsat selected Radyne ComStream's
IPSat after an extensive evaluation of products because of its ability
to handle the high bandwidth required by the forward and return
satellite channels, as well as to provide a high quality of service
for the implementation of real time protocol applications.
Radyne ComStream designs, manufactures, sells, integrates and
installs products, systems and software used for the transmission
and reception of data and video over satellite, microwave and cable
communication networks. The company also has sales and/or service
centres in Bangalore, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai and Moscow.
