company and a leading provider of technology solutions for digital
pay-TV, announced that Guizhou Tianguang Cable Network Co has selected
NDS end-to-end digital broadcasting systems to transition from analog
to digital cable TV broadcasting.
A press release quoted Bureau of Radio, Film and TV of Guizhou
deputy director and chairman of Guizhou Tianguang Cable Network
Fang Xuezhong as saying : "We selected a quality conditional
access system with advanced technology and equipment to speed up
the digital roll out in Guizhou. With this new system in place,
we will broadcast more digital programming and value added services
to fulfill the ever-increasing demands of our viewers."

broadcasting solution tailored to the requirements of Chinese broadcasters,
as well as strong technical support from a local team. We look forward
to being a technology partner of Guizhou Cable TV, and working together
to meet their aggressive roll out schedule," NDS China general
manager Gary Zhou adds, as per the release.
Guizhou Cable TV network connects over 350,000 direct access subscribers.
Within Guizhou provincial network, there are approximately 2.7 million
cable TV subscribers. 1.8 million are subscribers of nine regional
cities' cable TV services also receiving the Guizhou Cable TV programming
and will be connected to the Guizhou provincial digital TV platform.
The remaining 900,000 subscribers of the metropolitan area networks
of counties and towns will be connected to the provincial network,
and they will also be able to receive digital TV programming delivered
by the Guizhou Cable TV networks.
The digital programming package of Guizhou Cable TV will include
around 70 channels with basic and premium tiers. Guizhou Cable TV
plans to offer interactive TV services, such as an electronic program
guide. Benefiting from the synergies of NDS systems, Guizhou Cable
TV will also be able to carry the interactive programming of CCTV,
China's national broadcaster, such as CCTV 5i interactive sports
programming.
The NDS end-to-end solution includes Open VideoGuard conditional
access, NDS Core middleware, StreamServer digital broadcasting
management system, and the Guizhou Cable TV Network interactive
electronic program guide being developed by NDS Beijing engineers.
NDS VideoGuard is one of only two foreign conditional access systems
recommended by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television
(SARFT).
