Wegener Corporation, an international provider of digital solutions
for IP data, video and audio networks has introduced the DTV735
Cable Groomer, a space efficient single rack unit device for processing
digital streams in cable headends.
Through feedback, the company learnt that at many systems cable
programmers need the ability to digitally groom or select programs
from a larger digital stream. The devices that existed were both
too expensive and not easily controlled in a large network. The
company claims to have answered the need with the DTV735, especially
when used with the new UNITY4600 Cable Network Receiver.
The DTV735 Cable Groomer has an ASI digital input and output,
with an optional DHEI digital output to feed legacy digital cable
plants. An integrated WEB control and monitor interface enables
the remote control and monitoring of DTV735 Cable Groomers. When
deployed in cable networks using the new UNITY4600, the system's
digital stream can be COMPEL Controlled. This empowers a cable programmer
to control digital networks as individual sites, regional groups,
or the entire network with a single command.
This is based on the existing DTV700 family of digital stream processing
products for cable. Wegener is expanding this digital family as
cable networks are more aggressively making the move to digital
infrastructure.
