Conexant Systems, which claims to be a worldwide leader in semiconductor system solutions for communications applications, has announced that its digital satellite set-top box (STB) semiconductor solution has been chosen by Samsung Electronics, a leading Korean STB manufacturer, for deployment in Korea Digital Satellite Broadcasting's (KDB) SkyLife satellite television network.

The STB supports the digital video broadcasting-multimedia home platform (DVB-MHP), which provides viewers with Internet access and interactive services such as Web browsing, Internet gaming, online shopping and TV mail. Conexant teamed with Alticast, a pioneer in the field of interactive digital TV software development, to deliver the complete DVB-MHP as part of the set-top box design.

Samsung has stated that incorporating Conexant's digital set-top box solution into its product provides customers with a high quality and cost-effective STB.
