VCL attempts 3D animation technique with 'Fun2Shh'

MUMBAI: After scoring an ace with the visual treatment of Shahrukh Khan- Saif Ali Khan- Priety Zinta starrer Kal Ho Na Ho, Visual Computing Labs plans make a mark with 3D Animations for the movie Fun2Shh.

A division of Tata Elxsi Limited, VCL claims that with Fun2shh, they plan to achieve a major breakthrough in the area of 3D Animation in Hindi movies.

The computing lab says that it has successfully composited (mixed) a 3D Character
with live action, for the forthcoming Bollywood flick.

According to a company release, in a first time use of this technique in a Hindi movie, VCL will present the innovative mixing of the 3D character models with live characters in a movie, along with some slick 3D character animation.

Slated for release on 19 December 2003 Fun2Shh is a hilariously funny entertainer starring comedy king Paresh Rawal.

Says VCL head K Chandrashekhar, "We take pride in being the first to present the innovative use of this technology (compositing of a 3D Character with live characters) in a Hindi Movie. This has been possible because of our rich expertise and our commitment to conceptualizing, developing and delivering the latest techniques in the industry. We are happy to announce that the final output will be comparable with international standards, and through this landmark achievement, we are confident of opening new vistas for the Indian film industry."

Produced by Ashtavinayak films, 'Fun2ssh' is about three snappy dudes and their unbelievably hilarious adventures that span over about ten centuries. Gulshan Grover, Kader Khan, Farida Jalal, Anuj Sawhney, Iqbal Khan, Nataneya Singh, and Raima Sen, star alongside Paresh Rawal.

Visual effects in the movie including time travel sequences, magical tricks, and magical devices as a prop for transition sequences, period changes and so on. The 25 minutes plus effort was choreographed at Visual Computing Labs' Mumbai, under creative director Pankaj Khandpur's supervision.
