Digital streaming solutions provider Optibase has announced that
it will develop a multimedia framework. This will enable the creation,
delivery and use of digital media content on the public network,
while protecting the rights of content owners and the privacy of
consumers. The initiative is being conducted together with leading
European technology companies, research institutes and universities.
An official release informs that the project titled Tiramisu is
being funded by the European Commission. Besides Optibase, other
companies involved include Nagravision, Emblaze Systems and Orange
Personal Communications Services.
The consortium aims to develop a complete end-to-end framework
solution consisting of interoperable, open standards-based hardware
and software platforms. The project's solution will be comprised
of contributions from leaders in the areas of content management,
security tools, streaming, networking and peer-to-peer solutions,
as well as end user applications.
Optibase provides high-quality, cost-effective products that enable
the preparation and delivery of MPEG-based digital media over broadband
networks. Optibase has created a breadth of product offerings used
in applications such as video-on-demand, real-time video streaming,
video over DSL, distance learning, and business television.
