| A quicker, easier and cost-effective option to player-based
solutions is here. Clipstream, the audio-video streaming solution
from Grus Media, does not require any player or plug-in to bring streaming
audio-video to your computer over the net.
Grus Media, a firm that represents Destiny Media Technologies Inc
Vancouver in India, claims that with Clipstream, web pages, emails
and banners can come alive instantly on the web pages irrespective
of players or plug-ins installed in one's computer. This basic feature,
according to the company, will ensure significantly better quality
over available solutions. It would be low on bandwidth and will
automatically adjust to the user bandwidth.
The application is said to be entirely configurable and can also
be made interactive. It needs no streaming servers and can be mixed
with Flash as well, states a company release.
Additionally, the Java-based Clipstream is platform-independent
which means it can be used on PC, Mac, Linux, and Unix. It is capable
of playing across corporate firewalls and can operate on consumer
devices such as set top boxes, wireless devices and Sony PlayStation2.
The security, the company claims, is designed specifically to prevent
pirated video content to be streamed from other servers, as well
as preventing the piracy of bandwidth by sites that remotely refer
to other's content from their websites.
Some of the player-based solutions for streaming video available
in India as of now are RealPlayer, Windows MediaPlayer, and Quicktime.
Player based solutions, apart from being slow, reportedly have a
34 per cent reachability, which is possibly even lesser for India.
If the company is to be believed, Clipstream enjoys 97 per cent
reachability worldwide because of its player-independent feature.
The company says that it has launched this Internet solution package
to exploit the new opportunities in internet communications which
are now available in India given the growing bandwidth of the internet
user.
The company's claim to fame is a list of clients that include Unilever,
Honda, Lexus, Audi, BMW, Disney, Ericsson, Electronic Arts, HBO,
HMV, HSBC, IBM, ING Group, Land Rover, Mazda, Microsoft, Molsons,
MGM, Sony, Reebok, Nike, Toyota, Shell, L'Oreal, Stockhouse, Templeton,
Tribute, Volkswagen, Volvo, CART, Z100 New York et al.
