RISQ ties up with DVcolor for digital media services

RISQ, the organization that manages the optical information superhighway linking Quebec's research, educational, training, and cultural institutions, has named the Montreal-based DVcolor as its digital media technology services supplier.

RISQ or Réseau d'informations scientifiques du Québec builds and operates high-performance optical networks and has been providing research and educational institutions in Quebec with technologically advanced telecommunications services and infrastructure since 1989.

To this end, RISQ will be using DVcolor's innovative digital image processing and distribution solutions to provide to the network's multiple users with continued image quality without artifacts.

The solutions are designed to allow the distribution of DVD-quality video content and CD-quality audio content without putting heavy demands on existing IT equipment and infrastructure.

These solutions are also geared for high-resolution broadcasting for users of broadband networks, including high-speed Internet, satellite networks, cable distribution (VOD, SVOD, iVOD), wireless networks, gaming platforms, in-room projections, and for distribution on CD-ROM or DVD.
