Oak Technology which provides embedded solutions for the digital
home entertainment and digital imaging markets has announced that
its TL851 Universal Digital TV Decoder and TL811 PVR/STB Controller
have been integrated into Funai's latest suite of over-the-air set-top-boxes
(STBs).
These STBs feature both Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC)
and National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) reception and
provide component output for high-definition-ready TVs and composite
signal output.
An advanced Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides a first-class
ease-of-use TV experience for the rapidly growing digital TV market.
An official release informs that as advanced digital TV products
continue to reach the broad consumer market, ease-of-use and compelling
graphics become the increasingly important competitive differentiators.
Oak's TL851 Universal Digital Decoder and TL811 PVR/STB Controller
enabled Funai to deliver a product that gives customers both easy-to-use
functions and a compelling and engaging Digital TV experience.
The Oak TL851 graphics engine supports high-quality, high-definition
flicker-reduced 32 bit OSD and accelerated graphics. This enables
Funai to deliver STBs with a rich, crisp and easy-to-use GUI. The
TL811 reduces system cost by integrating key external components
and providing the core foundation for future product roadmaps with
worldwide conditional access capabilities and options enabling families
of products with differentiated features.
