Oceanic Time Warner Cable and NDS Group have announced a joint venture to bring SportsView, the cable provider’s new interactive sports application, to subscribers in Hawaii.

With the advent of the college football season, the two companies are bringing a new ‘angle’ to the spectator experience by providing Hawaii Oceanic Time Warner digital cable subscribers with the opportunity to view six new camera angles at televised local sports games. NDS has adapted its expertise in creating sophisticated interactive sports applications for broadcasters worldwide to develop SportsView for Oceanic Time Warner.

Whether sports viewers want to watch the University of Hawaii football game at the 50-yard line or glance at the game from the end zone, all it takes is a press on the remote control. Hawaii viewers are the first from across the nation to receive a sneak peek at this exclusive digital interactive television technology created by NDS for Oceanic Time Warner Cable.

Through their remote controls, NDS’ interactive television application enables Oceanic Time Warner viewers to interact with live University of Hawaii football games for the very first time. NDS’ technology also allows them to pull up statistics and facts about each of the players as well as listen to live game radio-station and stadium audio feeds. SportsView now joins several other interactive sports applications NDS has developed for broadcasters worldwide, including BSkyB in the UK and DIRECTV Latin America.
