Candian
company QNX Software Systems has announced that Pixelworks
will incorporate the QNX operating system into Pixelworks'
new MediaProcessor family of system-on-chip (SoC) ICs.
Pixelworks' MediaProcessor SoCs with Jolt technology provide
new levels of media processing power to the advanced display
market that offers consumers a rich media platform by blending
video and Internet content in unique and innovative ways.
An
official release informs that Jolt technology introduces
Intelligent Windowing(TM) and Intelligent Connectivity designed
for a new generation of smart displays. The Pixelworks MediaProcessor
SoC uses the QNX operating system on the embedded ArTile
Microsystem's 128-bit MIPS RISC core. This creates a platform
that enables a new class of networked display devices for
the flat-panel monitor, multimedia projector, and digital
television markets. No other company has integrated such
advanced image processing and network capabilities into
a single chip the release states.
