InterVideo, Hauppauge bundle lets viewers watch and record the tube on a PC

(Posted on 5 July 2002 2:00 pm)

California headquartered InterVideo and Hauppauge have announced the availability of a new bundle to watch and record TV on a PC, while allowing viewers to pause, instant replay and skip commercials on live TV.

The WinDVR (InterVideo software) and WinTV-USB (Hauppauge hardware) bundle gives users high-quality digital recording of favourite shows with the facilities, says a company release. The WinDVR/WinTV-USB bundle is an external device with a 125 channel cable-ready TV tuner with software features usually only seen on high-end television sets, like previewing 16 channels at once. The bundle lets users record TV to a hard drive as high quality digital (MPEG) files or even to watch TV while working with its resizeable TV window. The bundle offers a variety of other multimedia functions such as the ability to snap and print screen shots of TV and movies, compatibility with Internet videoconferencing applications like Microsoft's NetMeeting and recording of video clips from a TV, VCR or camcorder to create your own high-impact presentations.

The WinDVR/WinTV-USB contains everything a user needs to get started watching and recording TV on a PC, requiring no other hardware or software, says the release. InterVideo claims to be a leading provider of DVD software and offers a broad suite of advanced digital video and audio multimedia software products that allow users to record, edit, author, distribute and play digital multimedia content on PCs and consumer electronics devices.
