Wink
Communications has announced that its Enhanced Broadcasting
technology is the interactive platform chosen by several
advertisers for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
By
clicking a button on their remote control during an enhanced
program or advertisement, viewers can access program-related
information (such as weather, sports updates, trivia and
play-along games) request product samples, coupons, and
other free offers from advertisers or make purchases instantly.
Several advertisers, including AT&T Consumer, TD Waterhouse
selected Wink's technology, an official release states.
In this way they added an interactive component to their
NBC Olympic television advertising campaigns.
Adding
an interactive element enables AT&T to further leverage
their current media buy and establish a direct connection
with potential customers - extending an offer for their
service to a whole new level. TD Waterhouse is using Wink-enabled
ads for lead generation and new customer acquisition.
This
addition of interactivity to NBC's Olympic advertising is
a real milestone for advertisers enabling them to reinforce
their branding and customer relationship management initiatives
to millions of households, the release claims.
Wink
claims to currently provide interactivity to 32 Networks
and over 50 National Advertisers, enhancing shows, programs
and ads daily. The company's end-to-end system enables advertisers
and programmers to process t-commerce transactions while
offering viewers instant interactive entertainment and information
retrieval.
Wink's
technology also collects, analyses and routes viewer behavior
and response data to give advertisers and broadcasters a
tool to collect consumer & viewer research and to evaluate
the success and value of their television campaigns.
