Tektronix which claims to be a leading innovator of test,
measurement, and monitoring equipment has announced that
China Central Television (CCTV) has chosen Tektronix's video
test and monitoring solutions to support and maintain their
new digital broadcast facilities.
CCTV purchased a variety of Tektronix waveform monitors,
including the WFM700M multi-format monitors and WFM601E
standard-definition monitors. The WFM700M provides for the
evaluation of the digital transport layer and includes digital
analysis capabilities important in design, installation,
and maintenance of component digital systems. CCTV also
chose Tektronix VM700T automated video measurement sets,
TG700 multi-format test generators, and MTG300 MPEG generators.
The equipment, when added to CCTV's existing Tektronix MPEG
analyser, provides comprehensive video test and monitoring
solutions to support digital broadcasting in China.
VP CCTV He Xong Jiu said, "The transition from analog to
digital broadcasting is one of our near-term, key goals.
However we will still have to continuously maintain a high-quality
broadcast in order to serve our audiences. For many years
now, we have been using Tektronix' analog video test and
monitoring instrument to enable this. The new digital Tektronix
instruments we have purchased will be used to assure the
quality of our digital video transmission and production."
The award-winning WFM700 is a family of flexible, multi-format
waveform monitors that enables broadcasters, production
professionals, and designers to measure and monitor both
standard-definition and high-definition video signals from
a single platform. The WFM601E is an industry-standard waveform
monitor that provides comprehensive evaluation of the digital
transport layer for standard-definition signals. The TG700
family of video signal generators provides reliable, flexible,
and upgradeable sync pulse and test signal generator solutions
that support a variety of formats, standards, and transmission
requirements. The MTG300 MPEG generator is a flexible, cost-effective
source of MPEG-2 transport streams for design evaluation
and conformance testing of compressed digital video products.
The VM700T is an Emmy award-winning video measurement set
that automatically performs specific baseband video and
audio measurements.
China Central Television (CCTV) is the national television
station of the People's Republic of China. On May 1, 1958,
it began trial broadcasting of TV programs, and on September
2, it went into official operation. In 1973, it started
