BT
Broadcast Services' end-to-end fiber and satellite services
are bringing transmission of the US Open live to Europe
and Australia from today. Broadcast right holders Eurosport
and Network 9 Australia respectively turned to BT Broadcast
Services (BT) for complete, all-digital solutions, according
to a company release.
For
the fifth year, BT Broadcast Services is providing transmission
services for this event with this year's solution featuring
utilisation of its global, all-digital infrastructure, which
includes the integration and coordination of a turnkey system
including a hybrid of satellite and fiber capabilities.
BT's
solution starts at The Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows,
transmitting to multiple destinations in Europe using BT's
Ku-band "Special Events Mux", uplinking five simultaneous
channels of 36 MHz to the new NSS 7 satellite. The same
flyaway will also transmit a SCPC (Single Channel Per Carrier)
signal to NSS 7 for unilateral contribution feeds for stand-up
shots and various ad hoc feeds. BT's C-band flyaway will
uplink 18 Mhz of capacity to AMC4 to be used as a domestic
backhaul path to BT's Media Center in Los Angeles and uplinked
to Network 9's full time service also provided by BT on
IS 180(Degree) for a downlink in Australia states the release.
Finally
a 270 Mbit local fiber loop from the venue to BT's New York
switch at 60 Hudson Street is used as a fiber backup to
the satellite feed to Australia.
