WorldGate,
which claims to be the leading provider of interactive entertainment
solutions for the cable television industry, has announced
that it has developed a new service based on its patented
Channel HyperLinking technology, enabling the delivery of
programme-specific interactive content for every television
show across all broadcast and cable networks. Subscribers
can access Go!TV Links at the touch of a button using their
standard cable TV remote control or wireless keyboard.
An official release informs that the single button press
connects the TV viewer to a rich set of TV-formatted, show
related information. Initial deployments of Go!TV Links
will begin next week with additional rollouts planned throughout
the remainder of the year.
WorldGate designed Go!TV Links as a proactive initiative
to increase the availability of enhanced TV content and
improve the consumer appeal for interactive television.
WorldGate claims that by using its patented Channel HyperLinking
technology it has successfully created a one-of-a kind solution
making every programme on every channel instantly interactive.
By linking exclusively to television-formatted content,
users are given a more satisfactory experience that demonstrates
the true potential of ITV. This provides added-value to
the cable operator's digital cable tier.
The
release says that Go!TV Links uses WorldGate's two-way ultra-thin
client architecture to provide a more in-depth experience
and requires no additional space within the set-top box.
Go!TV Links is an excellent augmentation of a cable operator's
existing interactive programme guide. Operators can deploy
the Go!TV Links service to today's digital set-top converters
using their current WorldGate ITV headend equipment, the
release states.
