Advertising
as career choice
I love impossible deadlines...and especially
the whooping sound when they pass by me. This
summarises the life of people in advertising.
There is hardly any money at the start...definitely
no social life.
So
what keeps people driving and striving to
be in this field? Fun, Frolic and definitely
the passion. Sounds like a motherhood statement,
but yes it is true...every word of it is.
Else, who would be here and why? You have
your clients who are like MILs (read mother-in-laws)...can't
live with, can't do without!
To
top it all, a whole network of associates
which deals with you day-in-day out...like
it or not. It's just a people's game. Live
it or leave it.
For
me, I am here for all the right reasons....friends,
fun and the whoooopping sound...haa!
Current
Advertising
scenario
Fast and furious and gone in sixty seconds.
Catch up with it or you would be the first
to die. The marketplace is changing fast and
rapid.

towards success....

More
and more of money is being pumped into mass
media, but clients are now realising the growing
importance of below the line (BTL). Although,
dealer outlets were always used as consumer
contact points, now they are increasingly
being used as a consumer feedback point.
Apart
from this, more and more clients are moving
into a fee based system, whereby the agency
is as responsible as the client for ensuring
effective sales boosts/awareness generating
communication.
Gone
are the days when you could skim away the
cream and get a hefty 15% commission. Now,
greater sales, greater the fees (profit percentage)
and proportionate revenues.

Five
years from now
Possibly in a respectable position in an ad
agency still listening to those whooooooping
sounds or on the other end of the table (client's
side) and taking charge of brand communications.
Hobbies
Drawing cartoons for leisure.....and catching
up with old pals for a good time...and yes...gaping
at gals (wink!...not a hobby though but yes
quite time consuming...hee..hee..hee)
