  • Seven per cent growth in advertising of Internet portals on TV during January - July 2008 compared to January - July 2007.
  • During January - July 2008, 'general category' garnered a high share of overall Internet portals advertised on TV.

  • 'www.shine.com' was number one website in the list of new Internet portals advertised on TV during January - July 2008.

Explanation for the categories of Internet Portals

1. B2C and Online Shopping: A virtual retail shopping space specifically for internet savvy clients.
2. Jobs: Portals providing online platforms for job offers and recruitment facilities under one roof.
3. Matrimonial: Match making portals for the prospective brides and grooms.
4. Properties/Real Estate: An online portal providing facilities like buying, selling and giving information of properties/real estate.
5. Travel and Tourism: Website providing information and confirming tour packages which includes details for place of visit, travel and stay details.
6. General: Website other than the above five categories come under the general category. It includes mailing facilities, chatting facilities, blogs, financial, sports, astrology, games and others.

 
Volume growth of Internet portals on TV during January - July 2008
  • Seven per cent rise in TV advertising of Internet portals on TV during January - July 2008 compared to January - July 2007.

Advertising of Internet portals on (national vs regional) channels

  • Advertising of Internet portals on national and regional channels was in the ratio of 86:14 during January - July 2008.
  • The top three states Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi together had contributed for 67 per cent of Internet portals advertising on Regional channels during January - July 2008.

Share of categories of Internet portals on TV during January - July 2008

  • During January - July 2008, general category of Internet portals had the maximum advertising share i.e. 60 per cent followed by B2C and online shopping and jobs websites each with 14 per cent share.

  • Top 10 websites share aggregates to 45 per cent of overall advertising share of Internet portals on TV during January - July 2008.
  • www.homeshop18.com, www.espnstar.com and www.mobilendtv.com were the top three Internet portals advertised on TV during January - July 2008.

New Internet portals advertised on TV during January - July 2008

  • During January - July 2008, the top three new websites advertised on TV were www.shine.com, www.news24online.com and www.indiancricketleague.in.

Tally of new Internet portals - categories wise on TV during January - July 2008

  • During January - July 2008, general category recorded maximum number of new websites, followed by B2C-Online Shopping and matrimonial' portals.
