Key Findings:

  • IT sector advertising saw a growth of 22 per cent on TV during 2007 over 2006.
  • 'Laptops/Notebooks' garnered a 43 per cent share of overall IT sector advertising on TV during 2007.
  • 'Acer India Pvt Ltd ' was the top advertiser in IT sector during 2007.
  • Top two new brands 'Acer Aspire 5583' and 'Acer Aspire 4710' were of Acer India Pvt Ltd during 2007.

Volumes Growth in IT Sector on TV.

  • IT Sector saw a growth of 22 per cent advertising in TV during 2007 compared to 2006.

Quarterly advertising share of IT Sector on TV.

  • During 2007, second quarter saw a steady rise in advertising of IT brands which peaked during the last quarter.

Share of Categories in IT Sector on TV.

  • During 2007, maximum advertising share of 43 per cent of IT sector was contributed by the Laptops/Notebooks category followed by Corporate Image and Chips and Microprocessors with 26 per cent and 11 per cent share respectively.
  • IBM accounted for 60 per cent share of overall Corporate Image advertising of IT sectors on TV during 2007.

Top 10 Advertisers of IT Sector on TV.

  • Top 10 IT firms accounted for 92 per cent share of overall IT sector advertising on TV during 2007.
  • 'Acer India (Pvt) Ltd', 'IBM' and 'HCL' were the top three advertisers in IT sector on TV during 2007.

New IT Brands launched on TV.

  • 7 of the top 10 new IT brands were of Laptops/Notebooks during 2007.
  • Top 10 new IT brands comprised of 3 of 'Acer India Pvt Ltd'.
