Key Findings:

  • TV ad volumes of Mobile Phones grew by 27 per cent during January-June 2008 compared to January-June 2007.
  • 3/4th of Mobile Phone advertising were on National channels during H1 2008.
  • 'Nokia Corporation' is way ahead of other advertisers of Mobile Phones on TV during H1 2008.
  • 'Nokia N82' topped the chart of new models of Mobile Phone advertised on TV during H1 2008.
  • 'Shahrukh Khan' was the top celebrity endorsing Mobile Phones on TV during H1 2008.

  • During H1 2008, there was a 27 per cent rise in TV ad volumes of Mobile Phone category compared to same period in 2007.

Zone Wise advertising share of Mobile Phones on TV during H1 2008.

  • National Channels had the largest share of Mobile Phone TV ad pie followed by South and East Zone channels with 14 per cent and 7 per cent share respectively during H1 2008.

Top States contributing in Mobile Phone advertising on Regional Channels during H1 2008.

  • Top five States contributed for more than 88 per cent share of Mobile Phone advertising on Regional Channels during H1 2008.
  • West Bengal and Tamil Nadu leads with an equal advertising share of 28 per cent followed by Andhra Pradesh with 18 per cent share of overall Mobile Phone advertising on TV during H1 2008.
Top Advertisers of Mobile Phones on TV during H1 2008.
  • During H1 2008, 'Nokia Corporation' leads with 52 per cent share of overall Mobile Phone advertising on TV followed by 'LG Electronics India Ltd' and 'Samsung India Electronics Ltd' with 16 per cent and 13 per cent share respectively.

New Brands of Mobile Phone advertised on TV during H1 2008.

  • 'Nokia N82', 'Samsung Guru 100' and 'Nokia Maps and Navigation' were the top three new brands of Mobile Phone advertised on TV during H1 2008.

Celebrity endorsing Mobile Phones on TV during H1 2008.

  • During H1 2008, 'Shahrukh Khan' garnered a high share of 36 per cent of overall ad volumes of Celebrity endorsing Mobile Phones on TV followed by 'Hrithik Roshan' and 'A R Rehman' with 18 per cent and 15 per cent share respectively.
