Advertising of Two Wheelers on TV during January-August 2007

Key Findings:

  • 52 per cent rise in TV advertising of Two Wheelers during January-August 2007 compared to same period in 2006.
  • 'Motorcycles' dominated the Two Wheeler advertising on TV with a share of 73 per cent.
  • Two Wheeler players preferred advertising on GECs.
  • Hero Honda Motors with 35 per cent advertising share took the number one position in the top 10 list of advertisers.
  • Hero Honda Splendor NXG topped the chart of new brand launches on Television.
  • Average Ads/Day of Two Wheelers rose from 389 in January-August 2006 to 639 in January-August 2007.

Volume Growth of Two Wheelers on Television during January-August 2007.

  • Two Wheelers segment not only registered a growth of 52 per cent in its ad volume, but the number of players also increased from 13 in January-August 2006 to 22 in January-August 2007.
  • R K Rim Pvt Ltd, Cynosure Enterprise Ltd and Hero Honda Pvt Ltd were the top three players with maximum advertising growth during January-August 2007 over January-August 2006.

Monthly Trend of Two Wheeler Advertising on Television during January-August 2007.

  • High advertising of Hero Honda Motors Ltd for its brand Hero Honda Splendor NXG (a new brand) and Hero Honda CBZ X-treme during July 2007.
  • Baja Auto advertised the maximum for its new brands namely Bajaj Pulsar DTS-i 200 cc and Bajaj Kristal DTS-i during April 2007.

Segment of Two Wheelers on TV during January-August 2007.

  • Hero Honda Motors Ltd led the 'Motorcycle' advertising whereas TVS Motor Co. took the lead in the 'Scooterette' category.
  • Electrotherm (India) Ltd, Ace Corporation (ACE Group) and R K Rim Pvt Ltd were the top contenders for the 'E-bike' category.

Genre Preference for advertising of Two Wheelers during January-August 2007.

  • TVS Scooty Pep+ and TVS Star City advertised maximum on GECs.
  • Hero Honda Splendor NXG dominated the Music and News channels.
  • Compared to January-August 2006 there was significant growth in Two Wheelers advertising on Kids, Music and News channels during January-August 2007.

Top 10 Advertisers of Two Wheelers on TV in January-August 2007.

  • 98 per cent of ad volumes contributed by the top 10 players during January-August 2007.
  • Electrotherm (India) Ltd, Global Automobiles Pvt Ltd, ACE Corporation(ACE Group were the three players in the top 10 list of January-August 2007 whose advertising figures were nil during January-August 2006.

New models of Two Wheeler advertised on Television during January-August 2007.

  • There were total of 21 new brands advertised on TV out of which 11 brands were of Motorcycle and seven of them made it to the top 10 list.
  • Top 10 list comprised of three brands of Bajaj Auto Ltd and two of TVS Motors Co.

Average advertising frequency of Two Wheelers on TV during January-August 2007.

  • Average ads/day on TV of Two Wheelers saw a rise of 64 per cent during January-August 2007 over January-August 2006.
  • Maximum growth in average ads aired per day on TV was recorded under the 'E-bike' category i.e. from first in January-August 2006 to 47 in January-August 2007.
