Ice cream advertising on TV grew 46% in 2005

  • Ice Cream category advertising on TV grew by 46% in 2005 over 2004
  • The searing months of Apr-Jun had 78% of ice cream advertising on TV in 2005
  • National channels accumulated nearly 80% of ice cream advertising on TV
  • The share of Kids channels (20%) was second to Mass Entertainment channels (52%) in terms of advertising spends
  • 'Kwality Walls Cornetto' was the top ice cream brand advertised on TV

The Indian market has a plethora of ice cream brands ranging from the international Baskin Robbins to the very Indian Amul; this is in turn has given rise to a situation where it has become even more difficult for ice cream advertisers to fight off competition. AdEx India brings you an update how these advertisers promoted their products on TV in the year 2005

  • The year 2005 experienced a growth of 46% in Ice cream advertising on TV
  • A de-growth of 16% and 46% was observed in the years 2003 and 2004 respectively

  • Ice cream advertising showed high seasonality in Apr-June months 2005 had the highest share with 78%

3. State-wise share of Ice cream advertising on TV in 2005

 
 
  • Ice cream advertising on TV showed an inclination towards West Bengal with 9% share
  • Tamil Nadu followed with a share of 7% of ice cream advertising

4. The share of channel genres in TV advertising of ice cream category in 2005

 
  • Kids channels (20%) were the most preferred genre after Entertainment Channels (52%) in ice cream advertising on TV in 2005

  • 'Kwality Walls Cornetto' sashayed to the top position with a share of 29%
  • 'Amul Sundae' was right behind with 15% share of advertising on TV in 2005
