Trend of advertising on sports channels in 2005 (cont.)

Key Findings:

  • Number of categories advertising on Sports Channels dropped, while advertisers and brands increased in 2005
  • 'Car/Jeeps' category was a major contributor to advertising on Sports Channels with eight per cent of the total ad volume
  • 'Bajaj Auto' and 'Maruti Udyog Ltd' proved to be the main players in Sports channels advertising with five per cent share each
  • 'Petronas' was the top ranking advertiser among the first timers in Sports Channels
  • 'Gillette Mach 3', the top brand to advertise exclusively on Sports Channels in 2005

  • Two per cent dip in the number of categories on Sports Channels whereas a rise of 15 per cent in advertisers and nine per cent in Brands in '05 over '04

Top 10 categories advertising on Sports Channels in 2005

 
 
  • 'Cars/Jeeps' was the top advertising category with eight per cent share
  • 'Professional Services' and 'Cellular Phones' followed closely with six per cent share each.

  • 'Bajaj Auto' and 'Maruti Udyog Ltd' emerged as the leading advertisers with five per cent share each on Sports Channels

Top 10 advertisers in Q1 '06 on Sports Channels

 
  • 'Petronas' lead in first rank, while 'Sri Lanka Tourist Board' was not far behind in second place

Top 10 Brands which advertised exclusively on Sports Channel in 2005

 
 
  • 'Gillette Mach 3' was the top ranking brand of 2005 to be advertised solely on Sports Channels, 'Mobil 1' was the second ranking exclusive brand
