Trend of TV advertising in H1 2006 - Part 2

Before we begin with the analysis of TV advertising Newsletter Part 2, let's have a quick re-cap of preceding Newsletter:

  • TV advertising had a huge 60 per cent share on overall advertising volume in the first half of 2006.
  • 34 per cent growth of TV advertising volume in first half of 2006 over first half of 2005.
  • 'Hindustan Lever Ltd' lead the top advertisers chart with seven per cent share on TV.

This week AdEx India brings to you the second part of TV Advertising Trends in the first half of 2006.

Shift in Ranks of Categories in the first half of 2006 compared to first half of 2005

 
 
  • 'Two Wheelers' moved up to eight places, while 'Cars/Jeeps' slid down five ranks in January - June '06 compared to January - June '05.
  • 'Social Advertisements' and 'Toilet Soaps' remained unshaken in their ranks in the first half of 2006 and previous year.

  • 'L'Oreal' jumped up to 13 positions in H1 2006 compared to January - June '06.
  • 'Procter & Gamble' and 'Nokia Corporation' dropped by five places in January - June '06 compared to January - June '05.

Ranks of top 5 categories in top 5 channel genres during January - June '06

 
 
  • The Top four categories in regional GEC & Hindi GEC are the same in the first half of '06.
  • 'Aerated Soft Drinks' was in leading position in both movie and music channels.

Top 5 advertisers in top 5 channel genres in January - June '06

 
  • 'Hindustan Lever Ltd' reigned in No. 1 position in all the Top 5 channel genres in January - June '06.
  • Except in Regional GECs, 'Paras Pharmaceuticals Ltd.' was in leading position in the top channel genres.

Exclusive advertisers on TV and not advertising in other mediums in the first half of 06

 
 
  • 'Central Excise Department' was the top advertiser exclusive to TV advertising in January - June '06.
  • 'Joyco India Ltd.', in second position advertised solely on television and not in any other media.

Top 10 Brands introduced to TV advertising in January - June '06

 
 
  • 'Colgate Max Fresh Gel' was the top ranking new brand to be launched on TV in the first half of 2006.
  • 'Tata Indica V2 Xeta Petrol' was the second ranking new brand introduced to TV advertising.

Cross Media Advertising on TV in the first half of 2006
*Cross Media advertising includes advertising of other media, e.g. Radio Channels Promotion and Publication Promotions on TV

 
 
  • Radio Channels Promotions on TV were nearly three times more in second half of 2005 than in the first half of 2005.
  • Publication Promotions grew by 56 per cent in second half of '05 compared to first half of '05.
