Washing powder/liquid advt on TV dips 7% in Q1 ’05

  • Dip of 7% in advertising in Q1 '05 compared to Q1 '04
  • 2003, the only year to show de-growth across 2001-04
  • Hindustan Lever Ltd., the top advertiser in Q1 '05
  • Satellite channels score over Terrestrial in category ads

This week, AdEx India looks at the 'Washing Powders/Liquids' category. Below is the growth of advertising on TV in the 1st quarter of 2005 as compared to that of 2004

 
 
  • 7% dip in advertising in Q1 '05 compared to Q1 '04

Below is the growth of 'Washing powder' advertising on TV across the years 2001-04

 
 
  • Highest growth seen in 2002 (65%) whereas 24% rise in 2004
  • De-growth observed in 2003 (-11%) across the last 4 years

The table below shows the Advertisers on TV, along their brands, that topped in the 1st quarter of 2005

 
 
  • 'Hindustan Lever Ltd' - the top advertiser in the 1st quarter of 2005
  • Almost the entire advertising share (98%) contributed by the top 5 advertisers

Washing powder ads are aired more on Satellite channels or Terrestrial channels?

 

 
  • Washing powder ads occur more on Satellite channels
  • 79% of ads in Hindi Channels whereas 3% each on Tamil & Telugu Channels
