Advertising spends on the First day of Onam (28th Aug) registers a growth of nearly 50% on Television in the year 2004.

  • Advertising Spends on the First day of Onam (28th Aug) shows a growth of nearly 50% on Television in the year 2004.
  • Malayalam channels, compared to regular days, shows a growth in Advertising spends during Onam in the year 2004.
  • Two Wheelers tops on the First day of Onam (28th Aug) on Television in Year 2004.
  • Hindustan Lever tops during Onam (28th Aug - 31st Aug) on Television in this year.
 

Last week, we had a look on Chocolates. This week, AdEx India looks at the Onam Festival. First, let's have a look at the trend of Advertising before the start and during Onam (i.e during the period 23rd Aug to 31st Aug) in the year 2004 on Television.

 
 

Here, Advertising shows a growth of nearly 50% on the first day of Onam (i.e 28th Aug 2004) on Television.

First, let's look at the Top Categories which dominated during each Onam day this year on Television.

 
 

The table shows variations in the categories on the top seat in all the 4 days. Two Wheelers tops on first day of Onam followed by Cellular Phone Service and Televisions on second and third position respectively. Other consecutive days shows Cars/jeeps, Shampoos and Toilet Soaps on the top position on Television.

Now, let's look at the Top Advertisers - which dominate during Onam this year on Television.

 
 

The table shows that Hindustan Lever tops on the first day of Onam as well as other consecutive days on Television. Other Advertisers that topped on the 1st day of Onam this year are Hero Honda Motors Ltd., Videocon Industries, Reliance Infocomm Ltd. and Indian Airlines did not see a repeat in the next consecutive days.

Lastly, let's look at the trend of Advertising spends of Malayalam channels during Onam compared to regular days on Television.

 
 

The graph shows the four Malayalam channels with a growth in Advertising spends during Onam compared to the regular days on Television this year whereas DD-Trivandrum is an exception.

We shall be coming out with similar analyses on other categories in the coming days.
