Hindustan Lever tops advertising across all programme genres based on duration: An AdEx India analysis

(31 December 2003)

This time, we at AdEx India decided to analyze top advertisers across more than 15 program genres like Action/thriller, Arts & Culture, Feature Films, News Bulletin, Drama Soap, and Comedies over the 650+ Product Categories that we monitor.

Feature Films top amongst all Program genres followed by News Bulletin & Drama/Soap genre.

So, which advertisers have the maximum commercial time across these genres? No surprises here, HLL dominates each one of them.

The Feature Films genre is flooded with FMCG advertising. Hindustan Lever is on the top followed by Paras Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Procter & Gamble. Cigarette major Godfrey Philips and Consumer electronics manufacturer Samsung too feature amongst the Top 10 advertisers on Feature Films Genre.

The top advertisers in the news bulletin genre belong to a variety of sectors. There are two Automobile Advertisers, Maruti Udyog & Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. LIC (Insurance), Action Shoes (Footwear), HPCL (Automotive/Cooking Fuel/ Lubricants) and Biswanath Hosiery Mills (manufacturer of the Lux Hosiery Brand) are other strong ones, which do not feature amongst top advertisers on other genres.

In Drama/Soap genre, Nestle India (Foods) makes an entry, which was non-existent in the Feature Films & News Bulletin genre.

Other noteworthy contributors were from the Personal Care sector like Reckitt Benkiser (Mosquito Repellents, Toilet Soaps etc.), Procter & Gamble (Shampoos, Sanitary Napkins etc.), Johnson & Johnson (Sanitary Napkins, Baby Massage Oil etc.), Dabur India Ltd (Hair Oils, Shampoos etc.). Paras Pharmaceuticals (Medicated Skin Treatment, Rubs and Balms) ranked fourth here.
