Snapshot on Life Insurance advertising on TV during Jan-Sep 2010

Key Findings:

  • TV advertising of 'General Insurance' Sector decreased by 69 per cent during 2010 compared to 2009
  • General Insurance contributed 3 per cent to the overall TV advertising of 'Insurance Sector' during 2010
  • 'Future Generali India' was the number one advertiser in 'General Insurance' advertising on TV whereas 'Future Generali' was the top brand
  • More than ¾ of the total General Insurance Advertising was done on News Channels
  • More than 50 per cent of 'General Insurance' TV advertising was done during the 'News Bulletins', Business Programs' and 'Reviews & Reports'
 
  • General Insurance contributed 3 per cent to the overall Insurance sector TV advertising during Jan - Dec 2010
  • General Insurance was on the 3rd rank after Life Insurance & Health/Accidents Insurance General on 1st and 2nd rank respectively
 
  • TV ad volumes of 'General Insurance' category decreased by 69 per cent during Jan-Dec'10 as compared Jan-Dec 2009
 
  • Top 5 Advertisers of General Insurance Sector contributed to almost 90 per cent of the General Insurance Advertising during Jan - Dec 2010
 
  • Top 5 brands advertised during Jan - Dec 2010, were all by Top 5 Advertisers
  • 'Future Generali', 'New India Assurance' and 'ICICI Lombard.com' were the most advertised General Insurance brands on TV during Jan - Dec 2010
 
  • More than ¾ of the General Insurance TV Advertising was done on News Channels during 2010
 
  • 27 per cent of overall General Insurance TV advertising was done during the 'News Bulletin' on Channels followed by Business Programs and Review or Reports with 17 per cent and 7 per cent respectively
 
  • 69 per cent of General Insurance advertising was done on National Channel whereas Regional channels were utilized 31 per cent by the advertisers
  • Amongst the regional channels Punjab lead with 28 per cent followed by West Bengal with 22 per cent and Kerala with 18 per cent
  • The top 3 states Punjab, West Bengal & Kerala, contributed to 68 per cent of Regional TV advertising during 2010
