Snapshot of 'Airlines' sector advertising on TV during 2010

Key Findings:

  • TV advertising of 'Airlines' sector up by 86 per cent during 2010 compared to 2009
  • 'Domestic' Airline Advertising contributed 66 per cent to this category
  • Domestic Airline Advertising grew 5 times whereas International Airline Advertising dropped by 21 per cent when compared to 2009
  • 'Emirates Airlines' lead in the 'International' Airlines advertiser category while 'Kingfisher Airlines Ltd' was the leader in the Domestic category

  • TV advertising by the 'Airlines' sector has seen a growth of 86 per cent during 2010 compared to 2009.
 
Share of International and Domestic Airlines advertising on TV
  • Domestic Airline Advertising has captured two third of the overall Airline TV advertising during Jan Dec 2010.
 
Volume Growth of International and Domestic Airlines advertising on TV
  • International Advertising saw a 21 per cent drop during 2010 whereas Domestic Advertising grew 5 times when compared to 2009.
 
Top Advertisers of International and Domestic Airlines advertising on TV
  • With 32 per cent share, 'Emirates Air Lines' led 'International' Airlines advertising on TV closely followed by 'Qatar Airways' with 31 per cent share during 2010.
  • 'Spice Jet' scored the highest share i.e. 58per cent of overall Domestic Airlines category on TV followed by 'Kingfisher Airlines'.
