Overview of Personal Care sector advertising on TV during 2009

  • During 2009, 'personal care' sector contributed for 20 per cent share of overall TV advertising.
 
Volume growth of 'personal care' sector on TV
  • Compared to 2008, 'personal care' sector grew by 52 per cent in its TV ad volumes during 2009.
 
Share of 'personal care' sub sectors on TV
  • 'Personal hygiene' sub sector had the highest share i.e. 45 per cent of overall TV advertising of 'personal care' sector followed by 'hair care' and 'skin care' sector at second and third place with 23 per cent and 17 per cent share respectively during 2009.
 
Volume growth of 'personal care' sub sectors on TV
  • Compared to 2008, 'skin care' sector recorded maximum growth in its TV ad volumes followed by 'cosmetics' and 'personal hygiene' sub sectors during 2009.
 
Top advertisers of 'personal care' brands on TV
  • 'Hindustan Unilever Ltd', 'Procter & Gamble', 'Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd' and 'Marico Industries Ltd' were the four advertisers to maintain its respective position in the top 10 advertisers list of 'personal care' sector on TV during 2008 and 2009.
  • Compared to 2008, 'Ponds India' and 'Emami Limited' have moved up in its rank to be among the top 10 list of advertisers of 'personal care' sector on TV during 2009.
 
New brands of 'personal care' sector launched on TV
  • 'Ponds White Beauty', 'Clinic All Clear Tech Soft', 'Dove Hair Fall Therapy System' occupied the top 3 position in the top 10 list of new 'Personal Care' brands advertised on TV during 2009.
  • Maximum 5 brands of 'Hair Care' and 3 of 'Skin Care' sub sectors made to the top 10 list of new 'Personal Care' brands advertised on TV during 2009.
 
Top celebrities endorsing 'personal care' brands on TV
  • 'Priyanka Chopra', 'Kareena Kapoor' and 'Katrina Kaif' were the top three celebrities endorsing 'Personal Care' brands on TV during 2009.
