Sensex sees marginal gains

Mixed bag on media sector

	MUMBAI: The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index opened the morning session at 5,192 and ended with a small gain of 5.63 points to 5,192.08. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S & P CNX Nifty index inched up 3.30 points to end at 1,631.75. Despite some positive developments like the softening of international oil rates and the end of the week long transporter's strike, the market pared some losses in the morning session and recovered marginally at noon to end on a flat note. The market seemed cautious after the Reserve Bank of India, in its annual report for the year 2003-04, indicated that interest rates may go up, inflation may rise and the gross domestic product (GDP) growth may slow down in 2004-05, reasoning the uncertain monsoon and the high global crude oil prices as points of concerns. Gemini Communications advanced 13.33 per cent to Rs 17.85. Pritish Nandy climbed 9.97 per cent to Rs 91.00. Production house Cinevistaas rose 3.99 per cent to Rs 31.30. TV Today gained 4.68 per cent to Rs 107. Sandesh Ltd moved upward 3.57 per cent to Rs 90.

Navneet Publications was up 1.85 per cent to Rs 170.80. K Sera Sera posted gains over one per cent to Rs 143.85. TV Eighteen was up 0.83 per cent to Rs 158.20. Mid-day Multimedia moved up 1.92 per cent to Rs 25.25.

Media scrip's that did not move up; Crest Communication crumbled 3.86 per cent after the company's scrips scaled to a high of 11.72 per cent yesterday. Content provider Balaji Telefilms was off 0.66 per cent to Rs 90.55. Zee Telefilms slipped 1.42 per cent to Rs 152.65.

Hinduja TMT declined 0.49 per cent to Rs 234.25. NDTV Ltd dropped 0.11 per cent to Rs 91.20. Mukta Arts dipped to 0.86 per cent to Rs 57.85. Sri Adhikari Brothers fell 0.91 per cent to Rs 86.85. Saregama dropped 3.24 per cent to Rs 65.60
