Media scrips exhibit mixed trend

	MUMBAI: The market dropped today after recording gains in the last couple of days. Early afternoon today, the government announced a marginal fall in domestic inflation. The annual wholesale price inflation fell to 7.94 per cent in the week ended 14 August compared with 7.96 per cent in the previous week. But concerns continue over rise in inflation as the truck operators threatened to intensify a week-old strike disrupting supplies of essential commodities, if government did not scrap service tax on booking agents and release arrested leaders. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex opened at 5,148 and declined 18.44 points at 5,117.01.The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S & P CNX Nifty index shed 1.75 points to end at 1,609. Read on...

Crest Communications, through its wholly owned subsidiary RichCrest Animation Inc. signed a deal with the $ 2-billion Amercian Greetings for producing two computer-animated shows. The company leaped up 7.79 per cent to close at Rs 45.65.

Jain Studios climbed 5.29 per cent to Rs 17.90. HindujaTMT moved upward 3.23 per cent to Rs 233.55. Media conglomerate Zee Telefilms gained 1.37 per cent to Rs 151.30. Over 7 lakhs Zee shares were traded on BSE.

TV Eighteen (day closing; Rs 156.50), TV Today(day closing Rs;106), Pritish Nandy Communications(day closing; Rs 83.40), Navneet Publications (day closing; Rs 165.00) and Mukta Arts (day closing; Rs56.70)were the other major gainers among media scrips.

Balaji Telefilms tumbled 0.55 per cent to close at Rs 90.35 today. Over 15 million shares were traded during the day. Etc Network stumbled by 8.70 per cent to Rs 35.15 and Bag Films Ltd slipped 1.70 per cent to Rs 8.11.

PadmalayaTelefilms, Sri Adhikari Brothers, Sandesh Ltd, Pentamedia Communications and Galaxy Entertainment were amongst the other media scrips who recorded loss on BSE.
