It was a good day for Padmalaya Telefilms. The scrip raced
up 4.11 per cent over unconfirmed news of an overseas listing,
closing marginally lower than its day's high at Rs 83.50.
More than 3.83 lakh Padmalaya shares were traded on BSE alone.
Mukta Arts spiked 12.78 per cent during the
day to record the day's high of Rs 60.00 before settling at
Rs 54.10 on a gain of 1.69 per cent. The counter saw volumes
of over 0.20 lakh shares on BSE.

Media stocks accounted for 0.92 per
cent of the total market capitalisation of BSE 30 and
0.66 per cent of BSE 100 today on 16 September.

Among others to ride the optimism of the
markets was Hinduja TMT, which recouped yesterday's ten-rupee
plunge exactly and ended the day at last Friday's close of
Rs 204.30. Over 2.88 lakh shares were traded on the counter.
Continuing the climb, TV Eighteen paced up
by 1.11 per cent to close the day at Rs 131.90. The stock
traded in a range of Rs 126-134 through the day.
ETC Networks too recovered completely from
yesterday's dip, posting a rise of 3.40 per cent. The stock
closed at Rs 48.60.
K Sera Sera jacked up 4.98 per cent and closed
at the day's high of Rs 58.00.
Sandesh, the Gujarati news daily, was last
traded at its intra day high of Rs 122.00 clocking a 3.30
per cent gain. Cinevistaas too put on 3.93 per cent to close
at Rs 57.00.
Others that showed signs of recovery were Adlabs Films, which
gained 0.89 per cent to just about make good last trading
day's slide; Pritish Nandy, which closed at Rs 27.25 at a
gain of 0.55 per cent; and Sri Adhikari Brothers that closed
at Rs 60.90 on marginal gains.
Mid-Day Multimedia traded in a very narrow range and closed
the day with no change.
Media heavyweight Zee kept to a restricted range of Rs 101-104
and clocked volumes of over 13.44 lakh shares on BSE. The
stock was last traded at a dip of 0.24 per cent at Rs 102.20.
Balaji Telefilms put in another consecutive
day of slides. The counter slipped marginally to close at
Rs 65.00. Over 0.66 lakh shares were traded on BSE.
Galaxy Entertainment, which was on an upswing
off late, stripped 4.24 per cent and ended the day at Rs 41.75.
By and large, a good day for the markets
even as investors are cautious but buoyant on the prospect
of good economic growth.
