The quirky world of television is full of stars, starry mood swings, the rat race for the stellar roles and lots more...

Sangeeta Ghosh's Ramu connection

Sangeeta Ghosh (aka Pammi of Des Mein Nikala Hoga Chand) is on an astral plane. Reason? She has auditioned for one of Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming productions. She reveals, "Yes. I have undergone the test for a Ram Gopal Varma film. I can't wait for the result. I hope that I get it. I am itching to get into Bollywood."

Is she ready for item-numbers and sexy outfits? It is unlikely that Ram Gopal Varma has something for her wherein she'll be draped from head to toe. "Oh yes," she chirps. "I love seeing item-numbers and would love to perform them as well. As for skimpy outfits, let me inform you that I wore a swimsuit in a telly-serial Suhana Safar !"

Ravi Behl to pep up 'Hain Na Bolo Bolo'

Producer Rajesh Chaddha is sure that Ravi Behl stepping into the shoes of Karan Oberoi in Hain Na Bolo Bolo will boost the present TRP ratings of 1.78.

He informs, "Ravi Behl is a super singer and anchor. His presence will certainly yield a better output. Surely, Ravi has a better acceptance than Karan amongst the viewers. Karan had signed a film in Jakarta with 'The Band Boys'. He was unable to give me dates for shooting an improvisation schedule which is immediately required as per the feedback we have received from our viewers. Hence, we had to part ways. The show will undergo a transformation in terms of colour and content in April."

Meanwhile, Karan Oberoi is leaving for Jakarta in the next 48 hours.

Aman Varma gears up for Bollywood debut

In two months from now, Aman Varma (Kyunki..., Khul Ja Sim Sim) will hit the big screen in Ravi Chopra's Baaghban co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Divya Dutta, Sameer Soni, Suman Ranganathan and Rimi Sen.

On date, some songs and scenes are being picturised in a 10-day schedule in UK on Salman Khan and Mahima Chaudhary who make a special appearance in the film.

Aman plays Bachchan's eldest son. The film deals with the topic of the neglect and insult suffered by old parents at the hands of their own children.

Resham Sheth quits 'Astitva'

Resham Sheth has walked out of Astitva aired on Zee TV. According to her, she was the wrong choice of the serial.

The girl is going around saying that the channel called up the producer Sangeeta Sinha saying that it did not appreciate her looks, hair and make-up, and she had a big argument on the sets when they wanted to dye her hair black.

Yours truly called up the Zee office. Listening to what I wanted to know, they said that the PR would call up to offer an explanation. More than 100 hours have elapsed, but the PR has not reverted. Another call to Zee office revealed that this was the protocol they followed - PR to journo - and hence they would not throw any light on the matter. Anyway, I'll get to the bottom of this.

Dalip Tahil in a British TV serial

Talented actor Dalip Tahil (of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Baazigar fame) has joined the likes of Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah by signing a contract to work in a British TV serial Eastenders which is one of the oldest and popular TV serials in Britain.

A new chapter has been introduced in the serial with the addition of an Asian family, taking the Asian diaspora popularity into account. Tahil will play the head of the Asian family consisting of three sons and a daughter.

Sudhir Dalvi on a role roll

Remember Nana Nagarkar of Junoon and Babuji of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ? You can now see him on ETV Urdu Channel in a Muslim social Poocho Mere Dil Se directed by Tarun Mathur, wherein he plays the central character of Akbar Ali Khan.

Not over yet! Three days back, he has signed another serial (untitled) under the Padmalaya banner wherein he'll play the judge who realizes that he has given a wrong decision and takes the law into his hands.

More to go! He has signed two movies. He informs, "One, singer Suresh Wadkar's maiden production Tanman.com directed by Pradeep Chanda. The film co-stars Manisha Koirala, Kabir Bedi, Kittu Gidwani, Sachin Khedkar, Paresh Rawal. And just four days back, I signed Mr. Chunilal - a murder mystery to be directed by debutant Pramod Mathur. Therein, I play a psychiatrist. That character thrills me. I can't wait for the shooting to begin."

A column by Vickey Lalwani that will provide a regular update on some of the behind the scenes happenings in tellydom...Stay clued!
