Innovative
products and solutions and a plethora of international brand
names marked the three day Broadcast India exhibition at
the World Trade Centre, Mumbai from 1-3 November.
Organisers said 323 brands from all over the world were
on display for broadcast and allied professionals who visited
the exhibition from across India. Several Chinese and Korean
companies, first timers to these shores, were seen making
inroads into the expanding Indian market, offering several
cost effective broadcast solutions.
Among the big names were Sony, Panasonic, JVC, IBM, Seagate,
Tata Elexsi, Benchmark, SGI, Thomson Broadcast, Discreet,
Cintel International, Canon, Panther, Soundscape, DPS /
Leitech, ARRI , Fujinon, Soundcraft, Genelec, Digidesign,
Swedish Cambridge Animation, Matrox, AVID, RCS, Dayang,
Da-Vinci, Sachtler, Tascam, Videonics, Odetics Broadcast,
ORAD, and Cinecita Comptronics.
The demonstrations at the Da Vinci stall, for example, allowed
visitors to see how films are restored and real time correction
done. A lot of exhibitors, however, said the market scenario
was bleaker than the last few years. Said a spokesperson
for Tata Elexsi: "The market is really down this year, and
things are not moving along as expected. Sales have gone
down considerably."
Business usually picks up after exhibitions such as these.
Despite the large crowds that thronged WTC during the Broadcast
India, however, its seems highly unlikely in today's scenario.
